Shape up in the shower

Looking for another way to build exercise into your day?  Just hop in the shower!

Water has long been used for health and healing, and now an ancient Roman tradition – the Water Circuit – has been adapted for modern days.  Alternating intervals of warm and cold water is reported to increase metabolism, speed recovery from injuries, strengthen the cardiovascular system, and provide relaxation and stress relief.  The best part is that Water Circuits can be done in the bathtub, in a bath/shower combo, or in the shower.

Shower Shape-Up

  1. Start with a hot (no higher than 106 degrees Fahrenheit) shower for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Switch to cold water and stand under for one minute.
  3. Repeat cycle for 20 to 30 minutes, ending on a cold cycle.

For other Water Circuit combinations, check out Shine’s article on Yahoo!.
